The Doctoral Student Program at CERN is your ticket to a 36-month immersive drive into cutting-edge science and technology. Whether you are already knee-deep in your doctoral education or just setting out, this program welcomes those specifying in Applied Physics, Engineering, or Computing. Fields of Work: Applied physics, mathematics, IT, engineering (mechanical, civil, electrical, & electronics), instrumentation for particle physics, materials-science, radiation-protection, safety, environmental-protection, science-communication, & much more.

Program Perks:

  • Contract-Association: Initially for 6-months, renewable up to 3-years.
  • Allowance: A monthly stipend of 3868 Swiss-Francs (net of tax).
  • Travel Allowance: Get some help to protect your travel costs.
  • Family-Supplement: Additional funding if you are married or have children.
  • Health Insurance: Comprehensive coverage with aids automatically deducted from your stipend.

Eligibility-Requirements:

  • Nationality: Must be a national of a CERN Member or Assistant Member State.
  • Doctoral Programme: You should be enrolled in or about to start a doctoral program at a university.
  • Thesis Work: Your work at CERN must be part of the thesis obligatory for your PhD.
  • Language Proficiency: A good knowledge of English or French languages.
